Manmade Fiber Fabrics Market Expected To Surpass Cotton

2023-07-21

Synthetic fabrics made from man-made fibers such as polyester and vegetable cellulose are expected to surpass the demand for cotton fabrics in the coming decades. Factors contributing to this include: population growth, limited cotton production, rising cotton prices, industrial applications and increased consumer awareness of sustainability.

Compared with natural fibers, man-made fibers have more remarkable characteristics, such as rich practicality, durability, excellent cost performance, excellent mechanical properties and higher stability, which make them very attractive in the textile industry. s Choice.

At present, global fabric exports are divided into two parts, cotton accounts for about 26%, and synthetic fabrics such as polyester and rayon fabrics account for about 57%. This is a big change from the situation in 2003. Cotton exports accounted for about 38 percent at that time, while synthetic fibers accounted for about 42 percent of the market. Two decades on, the continued decline in global demand for cotton fabrics shows that synthetic alternatives are increasingly being chosen.

As the undisputed center of fabric production, Asia holds most of the world's production capacity. China in particular has consolidated its position as the world's leading exporter of vegetable fiber fabrics.

Some agencies predict that synthetic fiber exports will experience strong growth. In the next 5 years, the compound annual growth rate of synthetic fibers will reach 3%. The global synthetic fabrics market is expected to reach USD 87 billion by 2027, driven primarily by the surge in plant-based cellulose fabrics.

Globally, the consumption of fabrics made from man-made fibers has shown a steady annual growth rate of approximately 5% over the past two decades. This continued growth has resulted in synthetic fabrics now accounting for more than half of the global fabric market. Man-made fibers are a persistent trend. The future of the global regenerated cellulose fiber market is promising given the continuous advancements in man-made cellulose fabrics and strong manufacturing capabilities in Asia.
